"Microsoft lately has been challenging Linux's suitability for older hardware, so it seems like a good time to look at Linux distributions that can run on older machines. I took six distributions for a test run on an old machine, and also tried software that turns old hardware into a thin client.

The author is not bashin Windows Vista at all during the actual article. he was simply pointing out that on the forums a lot of people make this claim of switching from Windows to linux.

"The Nautilus program in GNOME is not only the default file manager, it creates and manages the desktop. While it looks simple on the surface, there is a lot of hidden power under the shell .
