Connections Lounge undergoes reconstruction, reopens today
The Connections Lounge, which had fluorescent lighting before the renovations, now features more flexible lighting, including lamps, which aren't in yet. The lounge also has new draperies and two flat screen televisions. The lounge features puzzle books, games, such as "Apples to Apples" and "Scrabble," magazines, including "Vogue" and "Mental Floss" and newspapers.

Student Services to relocate in spring
Soon students will no longer be able to access financial aid and admissions on Main Campus, as plans to move the Student Services Center are in the works. The center, now in Mesa Vista Hall, will relocate most of its student-oriented amenities to the old Lockheed Martin building off of University Boulevard and Avenida Cesar Chavez - about one mile from UNM - by the spring semester.

To help curb the growing number of waste contributed by bottled water- and soda-drinkers at the schools, Madison County Recycling this year began providing bins for recycled plastic bottles and Highland Recycling agreed to pick up recycled plastic at schools. University receives grant to construct fastest supercomputer
Extending more than 50 years of supercomputing leadership, the University's National Center for Supercomputing Applications has finalized their contract with IBM to build the world's fastest supercomputer. The University was granted $208 million from the National Science Foundation and this first petascale computational system, named Blue Waters, will be completed in 2011.
