Garrett bill on recycling electronics becomes law
Illinois has established a new statewide recycling program for electronics equipment, including old computers, televisions, printers, FAX machines and cell phones, thanks to legislation sponsored by State Sen. Susan Garrett, D-29th, of Lake Forest.

Market consolidation
The move appears to be a response to the growing scale and consolidation of the cellular chip market. Earlier this year, STMicroelectronics (STM) and NXP announced a a joint venture (JV) that would merge the companies mobile processors into a new business called ST-NXP Wireless .
