Federal court sides with ACLU in sex offender consent-to-search case
A federal judge has ruled that a recently-passed state law to monitor the computer habits of sex offenders long after they have served their sentences is unconstitutional. U.S. District Court Judge David Hamilton in Indianapolis ruled Tuesday in favor of the plaintiffs in the class-action lawsuit that was brought April 3 by the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana.
