All I can say is that during this past year, Vista has really improved across the board on my laptop. File copy operations do no longer stall the system, it boots faster, it shuts down faster, those sorts of things. I'm sure SP1 will address even more of these general concerns.

It's been over a year since the last time I reviewed ( 1 , 2 ) the Linux distribution that I use most of the time, Arch Linux . Since then, while the distro-specific innovations have slowed a bit down, maturity and stability has emerged.
