To paraphrase one of the best "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episodes, " Best of Both Worlds ", both Arch Linux and Slackware represent the best of all the OS worlds: the power of traditional Unix, the elegance of BSD and the ease of mind of Mac OS X. This is an article outlining the differences between --what I believe-- are the two best Linux distros around today.

CNBC had an interview with Steve Jobs . In the interview, Jobs talks about the new Apple store in New York which will be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The interview is quite lightweight - Jobs doesn't reveal anything we haven't heard before and the questions aren't particularly incisive.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin has quashed speculation that the giant ad broker is to introduce a web-based Office suite. "We don't have any plans," he told Web 2.0 conference organizer John Battelle. However Brin left the door open a little.

One of the strengths of RISC OS is the ability for people to drag'n'drop objects around the desktop. It's usually hard to describe how well this works, but other operating systems are rapidly catching up.
