Thanks so much for the editorial on Sen. John McCain's indifference toward the Internet ("Net deficit," editorial, June 29). It's chilling to think we might have a president who lacks the capacity to perform vital Web-related duties such as chatting up Scarlett Johansson.

I was a linux developer since the mid-90s (my first linux was a floppy-based slackware), but in the last year I changed to windows, and I am happy with windows.

Last month, IBM made an announcement that put an end to any hope of an open source OS/2. Responding to requests from an online community that had previously collected 11,600 signatures in support of its cause, the company confirmed that they would not be releasing the source code of their OS/2 operating system.
