For almost a week now, I've been using Slackware 9.1 (RC-1 released today ), and I am having a blast. Slackware doesn't have more than 6-8% of the Linux market these days, but it used to be one of the most-used distros back in the day.

Gadgetzone.com has an interesting artcile on 20 things Windows 7 MUST include (their emphasis, not mine). They begin " Despite its enhanced security, improved CPU scheduler and excellent stability, it's still the flawed gem in many critics' eyes.

"All too often the desktop operating system market is looked upon as some sort of epic struggle between Microsoft and Linux. This 'versus' mentality is fun to perpetuate, it is not helping anyone in the long run . Since it is clear that each party is going to be around for a long time, what is needed a bit of mannerly coexistence.

The first Live-CD based on Debian GNU/kFreeBSD has appeared. Its name is Ging (for Ging Is Not Ging) and it includes a GNOME 2.10 desktop, Abiword, and a complete toolchain with gcc 4.0.
