How do you submit a patch for the FreeBSD kernel if you are not a committer? How long does it take for a good patch to get approved and committed? How long from commit to release? Is this really better than the Linux kernel development model?

Ever since Microsoft started publicly outing Linux with their "Get the Facts" campaign, I have seen numerous articles and studies about the TCO (total cost of ownership) of both products in a head to head manner.

BlueIllusionOS 0.08 has been released (get it from the download page ). The author wrote to us:
"It sports a GUI with window composing capability & support for translucent windows, TCP/IP Stack, ext2 FS and ISO 9660 FS, various applications, as well as a program to play mpg1 movies (mpgplay - a port of mpg2player). All the settings in this OS are done via xml files."

I keep reading all these tales of woe of people having bad experiences with Linux. Sure, I've had my own bad experiences, across many an OS, but just lately I've been running a Red Hat Linux 9 desktop full-time at home and have yet to run into any major issue.
