Microsoft will end support for Windows XP Service Pack 1 and SP 1a on 10 October, leaving users no option but to upgrade to SP2 if they wish to continue to receive support for crucial components, including security software.

GE Completes Boeing 737 Flight Management Software Update
GE-Aviation announces the completion of the new flight management system (FMS) software Update 10.8 for the Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft. The new software will be standard fit for all 737 production aircraft starting in October 2008. In addition, GE's FMS is part of Eurocontrol's CASSIS project that recently carried out its first flight trials at Arlanda Airport in Stockholm.

EDE 1.2 is a new version of EDE (Equinox Desktop Environment) which brings mostly bugfixes. Also it comes with full German and French localization. The Equinox Desktop Environment is a small desktop environment, built to be simple, to have a familiar look and feel and to be reasonably fast.

The inevitable flood of Vista Beta 2 reviews are starting, and today there are two prominent reviews. Tom's Harware UK has spent 500 hours with Vista and given it a general thumbs up in its screenshot heavy review.
