San Francisco, July 13 (PTI): Yahoo Inc has rejected a joint proposal from Microsoft Corporation and billionaire investor Carl Icahn for the restructuring of the global Internet giant, saying the deal was not in the “best interest” of stockholders.

You may have heard of Sun Microsystems' StarOffice which is being offered as a viable and cheaper alternative to Microsoft Office. Openoffice.org is the open source (or, free indefinitely) cousin of StarOffice.

Linux should stop this petty trying to get the desktop market. Just as Apple should keep away from the server market. It is not that it can't function well as a desktop (just as OS X server can function well as a server) but there many design issues.
