Chairman blasts 'opportunistic' alliance Yahoo has rejected a joint proposal from Microsoft and investor Carl Icahn that had called for a restructuring and the sale of Yahoo's search business to Microsoft. The internet company has now suggested that Microsoft make an offer to acquire all of Yahoo.

In the GNOME bugzilla, there is an ongoing discussion about whether or not to include a patch into the default GNOME installation which would enable GNOME to ( optionally ) have a global application menubar, similar to that of the Mac OS and KDE (in the latter it is optional and off by default).

"All too often the desktop operating system market is looked upon as some sort of epic struggle between Microsoft and Linux. This 'versus' mentality is fun to perpetuate, it is not helping anyone in the long run . Since it is clear that each party is going to be around for a long time, what is needed a bit of mannerly coexistence.
