For the first time, the Windows operating system will wall off some audio and video processes almost completely from users and outside programmers, in hopes of making them harder for hackers to reach.

"With the release of Mac OS X for x86 processors, Apple has chosen to not release source to key components of the OS, such as the kernel and all drivers. This means Darwin/x86 is dead in the water; Darwin/ppc has many closed source components and is a deprecated architecture.

Lightning takes out electronics at jail
FARMINGTON — Repairs are still being made to the St. Francois County Jail from a lightning strike that occurred on July 3. The strike took out the electronic door lock system, the phone system in the jail and in the sheriff’s department, a gas pump, three computers and a bar code evidence tracking system.
