Taiwan's Wistron pays $300 mln for Lite-On unit
TAIPEI, April 29 - Taiwan contract notebook PC maker Wistron Corp said on Tuesday it will buy Lite-On Technology's monitor business for T$9.2 billion ($300 million) in cash, as it strengthens its supply chain in the fast-growing sector.

A downside is that the Linux kernel has to remain licensed under the GPL so Apple loses control of licensing. Steve Jobs hates giving away control. And to continue benefiting from the Linux development, Apple would be at the mercy of Linus.
