Suse co-founder and kernel team member Hubert Mantel has resigned from Novell, the server software company that acquired the German Linux company in 2004. Mantel announced the move on a Suse Linux mailing list Tuesday, and Novell confirmed the move Wednesday.

The KDE team has released KDE 3.5.8 , a maintenance release. New stuff: "Improvements in Konqueror and its web browsing component KHTML. Bugs in handling HTTP connections have been fixed, KHTML has improved support of some CSS features for more standards compliance.

To help curb the growing number of waste contributed by bottled water- and soda-drinkers at the schools, Madison County Recycling this year began providing bins for recycled plastic bottles and Highland Recycling agreed to pick up recycled plastic at schools. Plastic is an enormous source of waste along with the cardboard.
